Andy Elder, formerly president of Intel‘s security business operations in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, has joined Riverbed Technology as SVP of sales in the same regions.

Riverbed said Thursday the 25-year industry veteran will oversee sales and go-to-market strategies as well as help drive the company’s growth and transformation efforts across EMEA in his new position.

“Andy’s proven inspirational leadership and worldwide experience in sales and business development, makes him an ideal leader to drive further adoption of our solutions,” said Paul Mountford, SVP and chief sales officer at Riverbed.

“We have a huge opportunity in EMEA and Andy joins the company at a very exciting time as organizations around the world are driving cloud-first and digital transformation strategies.”

Elder previously served as executive VP of global licensing at Intellectual Ventures, held a 13-year career at Cisco and worked in various positions at 3Com.
