IBM, PNC Partner to Expand Veteran Tech Training Program in Pittsburgh - top government contractors - best government contracting eventIBM and PNC Bank have partnered to expand a technology certification program designed for military veterans in Pittsburgh.

The Veteran Employment Accelerator program offers a week-long training to certify former service members in the use of IBM software for law enforcement, cybersecurity and national security applications, IBM said Wednesday.

“This program is designed to hone our local veterans’ expertise by equipping them with software certification and job placement assistance in high-growth, new collar careers,” said Diane Melley, vice president of global citizenship initiatives at IBM.

IBM and PNC conducted a second training session in Pittsburgh and plan to administer training in Philadelphia later this month.

The technology company announced in March it aims to hire up to 2,000 U.S. military veterans through 2020 as part of a commitment to employ 25,000 workers for “new collar” technology jobs and positions that do not require a four-year college degree.

IBM and Corporate America Supports You jointly manage the Veteran Employment Accelerator, which is also supported by the National Cyber-Forensics Training Alliance.
