Northrop Secures Navy Triton UAS Long-Lead Material Procurement Funds - top government contractors - best government contracting eventNorthrop Grumman has received a $49.4 million contract from the U.S. Navy to provide long-lead components, materials, parts and services required to produce the MQ-4C Triton unmanned aircraft system.

The Defense Department said Monday work will occur in Maryland, West Virginia, Utah, Texas, California and other locations in the continental U.S. through December 2017.

The Naval Air Systems Command will obligate the full contract amount at time of award from the service branch’s fiscal 2017 aircraft procurement funds.

Northrop’s Triton UAS is designed to provide real-time intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance support for various Navy missions such as maritime patrol, signals intelligence, communications relay and search and rescue.

The Navy’s program of record calls for the deployment of 68 Triton platforms.
