Cecil Haney

Cecil Haney, a retired U.S. Navy admiral, and Sarah O’Hagan, chair of the Fuller Project for International Reporting, have been appointed to the board of managers at Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory.

APL said Friday that Haney and O’Hagan will join the group of professionals from academia, military, private industry and government who advise APL on national security and scientific matters.

Haney previously served as commander of the Strategic Command, commander of the U.S. Pacific Fleet and director of both the Submarine Warfare Division and Naval Warfare Integration Group.

His personal decorations include two Navy Distinguished Service Medals, four Legion of Merit awards, a James Bond Stockdale Leadership Award and three Defense Superior Service Medals.

Sarah O’Hagan

O’Hagan also chairs the advisory board of the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies and serves as a university trustee.

She has been active in the International Rescue Committee’s governance over the past 19 years, as well as offers advice to nonprofit education, international humanitarian relief and media organizations.
