Troy Mattern, a more than 20-year U.S. Marine Corps veteran and former vice president of cybersecurity at Zurich Insurance, has been named head of cybersecurity for products and services at Motorola Solutions.

Mattern will oversee a team of leaders on risk assessment, cybersecurity strategy and prioritization aspects across the company’s networks, devices, software and services, Motorola Solutions said Wednesday.

“Troy and his organization will help ensure our products and services – from mission-critical two-way radios to our integrated software suite for the command center – are secure from the ground up,” said Bruce Brda, executive VP for products and solutions at Motorola Solutions.

Mattern previously served as chair of the cyber intelligence task force at the Intelligence and National Security Alliance and technical director for cyber intelligence at Carnegie Mellon University’s Software Engineering Institute.

His USMC career includes leadership roles in the areas of cybersecurity and signals intelligence.
