Rolls-Royce Wants to Offer Engine Tech for Air Force B-52 Bomber Aircraft - top government contractors - best government contracting eventRolls-Royce seeks to pitch the company’s BR725 engine technology offering to the U.S. Air Force as a potential replacement for current B-52 bomber engines, FlightGlobal reported Thursday.

Tom Hartmann, senior vice president of customer business at Rolls Royce’s North American arm, told FlightGlobal the company will prepare for a potential bomber engine modernization program as the service branch conducts a B-52H engine alternative study.

“We’re acting like it’s imminent,” Hartmann was quoted as saying.

“The reason we’re doing this today is because we’re seeing an increased momentum and want to offer our best shot at the competition,” he added.

Rolls-Royce’s 700 series engines help power the Air Force’s E-11A Battlefield Airborne Communications Node aircraft and the C-37A Gulfstream V business jet aircraft.
