Launch of NOAA's New Weather Satellite Postponed to Saturday - top government contractors - best government contracting eventNASA rescheduled the launch of the first in a series of new National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration weather satellites slated for polar orbit to Saturday from Tuesday.

The space agency said Friday NOAA’s Joint Polar Satellite System-1 will launch aboard United Launch Alliance‘s Delta II rocket from Space Launch Complex 2 at Vandenberg Air Force Base in California at 4:47 a.m. Eastern time.

NASA Television and the NASA website will provide live video coverage of the mission starting 4:15 a.m.

Ball Aerospace & Technologies led design and development of JPSS-1 spacecraft as well as the Ozone Mapping and Profiler Suite-Nadir instrument and integration of the satellite.

JPSS-1 is also equipped with multiple space-based instruments from Harris, Northrop Grumman and Raytheon.
