Report: Singapore Evaluates Potential F-35 Aircraft Purchase

Rick Edwards, executive vice president of Lockheed Martin‘s international business, has said that Singapore is eyeing a potential future procurement of F-35 fighter aircraft,  Reuters reported Thursday.

Edwards told Reuters at the Singapore Airshow that the company held preliminary talks with Singapore’s government about the F-35B short takeoff and vertical landing variant.

An F-35B jet was on display at the airshow that concluded Sunday.

Straits Times reported Feb. 5 that Singapore’s air force currently studies the F35 as one option in efforts to modernize the military branch’s aircraft fleet for combat missions.
