TechTarget reported Tuesday that Egts believes the procurement culture in government is used to multiyear programs supported by a waterfall approach.

Peter O’Donoghue, vice president of application services at Unisys, added in the report that the government’s application development cycle also involves several parties performing different functions and could perform more effective DevOps with a “trust, but verify” model that uses automation.

According to Egts and O’Donoghue, the private sector can help the public sector deploy DevOps even as the latter has a larger technology scale and is subject to government mandates.
