A General Dynamics business unit has received a potential $68.6 million contract modification to convert the U.S. Army’s Stryker flat-bottom vehicles into a double V-hull configuration.

General Dynamics Land Systems will perform work in Sterling Heights, Mich., through March 31, 2020, the Defense Department said Wednesday.

The full obligated amount at the time of award is from the Army’s fiscal 2017 weapons and tracked combat vehicle procurement funds.

GDLS was awarded a $550 million contract in March 2016 to build armored vehicles for the service branch.
