Andy Jassy and Pat Gelsinger, respectively CEOs of Amazon Web Services  and VMware, announced at a recent industry event that both companies will debut a hybrid cloud service intended for government customers in the AWS GovCloud region by the end of 2019.

Both executives spoke about the planned release of VMware Cloud on AWS and other joint offerings at the VMworld 2018 event, the software company said Monday.

The service uses integrated tools built to help agencies migrate applications to cloud computing environments and secure workloads in a standardized infrastructure.

“VMware is committed to helping our customers and partners embrace digital transformation in this time of disruptive change,” said Gelsinger.

The partnership also showcased the Amazon Relational Database Service on VMware, an offering meant to help clients manage databases in data centers and hybrid environments.
