ICEYE has signed a definitive agreement for an oversubscribed $93 million growth funding round, bringing the company's total amount raised to $438 million. The microsatellite manufacturer and synthetic aperture radar satellite operator said Wednesday that the fresh funds will accelerate investment in its constellation of SAR satellites and expand its product portfolio.

BlueHalo has achieved a key milestone in its work under a $1.4 billion U.S. Space Force satellite communications program. The milestone, a successful demonstration of integrated backend mission services to Guardian operators, was completed at the 2024 Space Symposium in Colorado Springs, Colorado, BlueHalo announced on Thursday.

Retired U.S. Army Lt. Gen. and former Defense Intelligence Agency Director Bob Ashley has joined artificial intelligence firm Primer Technologies as an adviser. Ashley brings to his new role over three decades of military service, which saw him exercise command responsibilities through six combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan and take on leadership roles at various organizations, including the U.S. Army Joint Special Operations Command and U.S. Central Command, Primer said Tuesday.

Maxar Intelligence CEO Dan Smoot recently said that he is prioritizing the rollout of the WorldView Legion satellite constellation, which was supposed to begin launching in 2021. Legion is the next-generation imaging platform of Maxar Technologies, the parent organization of Maxar Intelligence, a division that specializes in satellite imagery. The constellation will comprise six satellites in all, with the first two set for launch in the next few weeks.

RTX business Pratt & Whitney has announced a $20 million investment to increase by 40 percent the capacity of its West Palm Beach Engine Center to maintain, repair and overhaul GTF engines. The facility expansion, will result in a 25 percent workforce increase and the addition of new equipment as well as technologies developed at the North American Technology Accelerator, is expected to be completed by the second half of 2025, RTX said Wednesday.

Susanne Hake, general manager of the U.S. government business at Maxar Intelligence, said the company intends to expand this year its network of electro-optical imaging satellites to meet the data requirements of government and commercial customers. According to Hake, Maxar Intelligence intends to triple its capacity to gather 30-centimeter imagery and increase revisit rates to up to 15 times each day by launching two WorldView Legion satellites with a plan to deploy another four spacecraft this year.

CAE has selected Jason Goodfriend to assume the role of interim group president of its Defense & Security business unit. He will succeed Daniel Gelston, who will stay with the company through May 2024 to support the transition, CAE announced from its Montreal, Quebec headquarters on Thursday.
