Alexandra Guenther, formerly program vice president for the civil operation of the Antarctic support contract at Leidos, has been appointed as the company’s chief information officer. Carly Kimball, executive VP and chief performance officer at Leidos, announced the appointment on LinkedIn Sunday.

Leidos has secured a six-year, $55.3 million indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract from the U.S. Navy to provide operations support services for the Carderock Division of the Naval Surface Warfare Center. The Department of Defense said Friday Leidos will offer logistics, maintenance, operations and program management assistance supporting Navy and Marine signature silencing programs for naval ships and undersea systems at the Southeast Alaska Measurement Facility.

Leidos has secured a $33.5 million indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract to help sustain and manage analytics systems and services for the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency. A notice posted on SAM.gov states that the single-award contract covers software development, systems engineering, integration, operations and sustainment support services.

Leidos has secured a one-year, $13.7 million contract from the U.S. Army National Guard to provide aviation institutional training and operations support. The award covers flight and simulation training, classroom instruction and information technology support, the Reston, Virginia-based company said Tuesday.

The U.S. Marine Corps demonstrated two uncrewed low-profile vessel prototypes, designed by Leidos, during Project Convergence Capstone 4, a joint and multinational military exercise hosted by the U.S. Army. Domain-specific generative artificial intelligence can benefit the healthcare sector, where it can function as an assistant to practitioners, facilitating better patient care by providing relevant medical information, according to Srini Iyer, vice president and chief technology officer of the health group at Leidos. Iyer said in an interview with Healthcare IT News that, unlike generic AI models, healthcare-specific AI models can provide more accurate and relevant answers to medical queries because they are trained on medical data. This level of accuracy can potentially result in a faster diagnosis of a patient and superior treatment plans.
