Hughes Network Systems has secured a contract from General Atomics Aeronautical Systems Inc. to produce the initial units of an advanced modem designed to enhance the intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance capability of the MQ-1C Gray Eagle 25M unmanned aircraft system. The EchoStar company said Monday it received the contract after completing the development phase and is set to commence deliveries of the HM400T modems in the spring.

Parry Labs will provide an Intel server-class edge computing hardware to General Atomic for use in the modernization of the U.S. Air Force's MQ-9A aircraft, a remotely piloted aircraft built by GA's aeronautical systems business. The delivery of Edge Compute Hyper and Edge Compute Autonomy systems to General Atomics Aeronautical Systems Inc. will be made under a potential $13 million subcontract award, Parry Labs said Thursday.

General Atomics' aeronautical systems division and the U.S. Air Force Special Operations Command have showcased various capabilities in a concept development initiative aimed at enabling AFSOC to project air power using unmanned systems from beyond the horizon.
