A solid congratulations is in order to Curt Kolcun for his recent promotion to Vice President of Public Sector at Microsoft Corp. In this position, Curt’s responsibility will be overseeing federal, state, and local business, and all education markets. Kolcun was the former Vice President of the Federal Division where he directed sales, contracting, pre-sales technical support, and marketing.

Curt has been with Microsoft for 18 years, blazing trails along the way. He was the first systems engineer assigned to the Department of Defense, spearheading standards initiatives, encryption, and security. This year, Federal Computer Week chose Kolcun for a Federal 100 award, and he received the Association for Federal Information Resource Management Leadership Award for Industry as well.

Kolcun’s career began in the United States Air Force where he guided his personnel to pioneer the automation of Government Bills of Lading. In 1983, he became a Systems Engineer for NBI, Inc., and then joined Microsoft in 1989.
