Secretary Chertoff Speaks to Potomac Officers Club

Secretary Chertoff will address the Potomac Officers Club on July 16th, so mark those calendars. Members and invited guests can click here to register. It’s been a busy couple of months for former Homeland Security Secretary. He’s started his own security consulting firm, the Chertoff Group and joined the law firm Covington & Burling as a senior counsel in Covington’s Washington office.
At his advisory firm, Chertoff will provide security and risk management advice to public and private sector clients. Led by Chertoff and Chad Sweet, Chertoff’s chief of staff when he was Secretary of Homeland Security, the firm will manage risks related to terrorism, cybersecurity, fraud, border protection and supply chain security. Based in Washington, The Chertoff Group will also have offices in New York.

Aneesh Chopra: Confirmed

Virginia’s Tech Secretary Aneesh Chopra switched hats last Friday to become the first federal CTO. “His leadership on the role of technology to transform our healthcare and educational systems directly aligns with President Obama’s top priorities,” said said Va. Gov. Tim Kaine. He will work closely with Federal CIO Vivek Kundra to “develop national strategies for using advanced technologies to transform our economy and our society, such as fostering private sector innovation, reducing administrative costs and medical errors using health IT, and using technology to change the way teachers teach and students learn,” according to the White House.
