Sources: Announcement of cyber coordinator imminent

You may recall that back on May 29, a report summarizing the findings of a cybersecurity review was released to the public. Soon after, President Obama offered this declaration: He would appoint a cybersecurity coordinator — or what many have been calling a cyber czar — to help set cybersecurity policy alongside Federal CIO Vivek Kundra and Federal CTO Aneesh Chopra (right).
Now, after months of speculation as to who the cyber coordinator will be, the guessing appears to be almost over. Sources close to ExecutiveBiz tell us that the Obama administration is close to naming the cyber coordinator. And not a moment too soon — as demonstrated by the growing frequency of cyber attacks and pressing challenges the cybersecurity coordinator will face.
We’ll keep you posted.
