FireEye: Fake Social Media Accounts Impersonated 2018 US Midterm Candidates to Back Iranian Interests
A new FireEye report says a network of fake social media accounts impersonated U.S. political candidates and used legitimate online and print media outlets in the U.S. and Israel to promote content in support of Iranian interests. The company said Tuesday most of the bogus accounts in the network were created between April 2018 and March 2019 and used profile pictures taken from different sources online.
