IBM to Launch Weather Forecasting Model; Mary Glackin Quoted
IBM and its subsidiary The Weather Co. plan to launch this year a weather forecasting model that could have potential applications in the federal government, the Washington Business Journal reported Monday. The Global High-Resolution Atmospheric Forecasting system is designed to generate short-term weather predictions worldwide by analyzing data from smartphones, aircraft-based sensors and other data sources using POWER9 processors.

ExxonMobil, Research Labs Join IBM-Led Network to Advance Quantum Computing
ExxonMobil and five research laboratories have joined an IBM-led network to explore potential scientific and business applications of quantum computing. The IBM Q Network is a community of companies, research labs, startups and academic institutions and works to accelerate research into quantum computing by providing access to quantum software, developer tools and other resources, IBM said Tuesday.
