The 29th Annual Kidney Ball Raises $1.1 Million

December 2nd, 2009 by Ellen Scott

Saturday, November 21st marked the 29th Annual Kidney Ball. The event was held at the Washington Hilton in downtown Washington D.C and was an extravagant evening filled with dinner, a performance by rock-and-roll artist Blondie, as well as both silent and live auctions. There was $1.1 million raised for kidney disease that night. We caught up some executives in the government contracting space to find out why they support this cause. We had to opportunity to chat with Carleton Jones of Indus Corporation, Donna Morea of CGI, Ted Davies of Unisys, and Joe Doherty of ACS. We also learned more about the Kidney Foundation of Washington D.C.  In fact, we learned D.C has the highest incidence of kidney disease in North America and this annual event continues to make an impact. The chair for this year’s event was Bill Couper of Bank of America. Next year, Carleton Jones, of Indus Corporation, will be chairing the event. For more information about the National Kidney Foundation visit  www.kidneywdc.org.
