Inc. 500 List Reveals Life in Fast Lane for Fairfax Companies

Government agencies – and the companies that serve them – sometimes get a bum rap for moving slowly. And if you ask Federal IT providers and government contractors, they would probably say that is perfectly fine as long as things are moving fast when it comes to growth. And perusing the 2008 list of the 500 fastest-growing companies, that is exactly what is happening at scores of Fairfax County Federal IT firms.

According to the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority (FCEDA) press release, 17 county companies ranked on the list – representing 63 percent of all Virginia companies on the list and 38 percent of all Inc. 500 companies from the Greater Washington area. The Inc. numbers certainly solidify Fairfax County’s reputation as a national hub for both leading technology companies and government contractors.

Topping the list of Fairfax County firms is Carahsoft (#16), a government IT solutions provider. Also making the list is Calnet (#144), which provides technology and intelligence analysis to the public and private sector; Catapult Consultants (#189); SPADAC (#308), which provides spatial intelligence and predictive analytic solutions for government and commercial markets; and APG (#417) to name a few.
