Cyber Security: What's in Store for 2009? - top government contractors - best government contracting eventMany security experts are predicting that we may have already reached the dangerous “tipping point” in the Cyber-War.  Couple this critical danger with an anticipated surge in appropriated funds, and you have cyber security at the forefront of most government contracting agendas in 2009. In a recent interview, Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff spoke of what he sees as the three major types of cyber threats: network hacking, compromises in software/hardware, and the insider threat.

Many local area companies will be investing more time and resources on cyber security in the very near future.  The government has created an inter-agency task force to help combat cyber security threat.  The task force is headed by Melissa Hathaway, Cyber Coordination Executive for the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (DNI) and a well-respected name within the intelligence and defense community.  Do you want to know what’s next in cyber security?  Just ask DNI’s Melissa Hathaway on Tuesday, January 13 from 8:00 a.m.- 10:00 a.m.  ExecutiveBiz is proud to host a rare public appearance by Ms. Melissa Hathaway.  Click here to register.

Cyber Security: What's in Store for 2009? - top government contractors - best government contracting eventOn the heels of disheartening economic news, the Potomac Officers Club was proud to host financial forecasting guru Knight Kiplinger.  For over two decades, Knight Kiplinger has been been known as one of the nation’s foremost authorities on financial forecasting, planning and wealth retention. He is the third generation of Kiplinger to serve in this post.  This past Thursday, Knight Kiplinger spoke to the Potomac Officers Club, the area’s premier group of “Executive only” leadership and offered a thoughtful and provocative economic perspective. Contrarian at times, Kiplinger believes that we are nowhere close to the economic conditions which preceded the Depression era, and that the Washington area will remain stable.  In terms of our local government contracting community, Kiplinger predicted that “The Washington area will be a major beneficiary of the stimulus”.  He cautioned, however, that, “Washington is not recession proof and will benefit from “emergency thinking.“  Click here to read more.
