The Honorable William Cohen, Chairman and CEO of the Cohen Group, will speak at the Potomac Officer's Club on Jan. 15. The day President Bill Clinton called on him to lead as Secretary of Defense marked the first time in history that a President had called upon an elected official from a different political party to join his cabinet. In this role, Cohen was instrumental in implementing a national security policy in numerous hotspots around the world. After 31 years of revered public service, Cohen shifted gears and founded The Cohen Group in 2001, a global consulting firm that is actively involved in facilitating and promoting transnational cooperation on a variety of critical issues. These days he is also actively involved with the Genocide Prevention Task Force, a joint effort among three institutions and which has just this month released a report calling for genocide prevention to be a top priority for the new administration.
“We have been a stabilizing force for the world and when you have stability you have economic opportunity; when you have economic opportunity you generate prosperity; when you have prosperity you can then reinforce Democratic values,” Cohen told PBS’ Think Tank last year.
Attendees will have the opportunity to hear expert advice from a renowned public figure on the incoming President’s security and foreign policy agenda. For event details, click here.
