$23.5 Million Task Order Awarded to American Systems

The Naval Facilities Engineering Command Specialty Center Acquisitions (NAVFAC SCAN) in Port Hueneme, CA, under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA), has awarded Chantilly based, American Systems a task order worth approximately $23.5 million as part of an indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity award already in place. The task order is firm-fixed price and calls for AS to furnish and install advanced metering infrastructure in multiple locations within the Southwest Navy Region in compliance with the Energy Policy Act of 2005. The task order will use non-ARRA funding.

William C. Hoover, president and CEO of American Systems, said, “The U.S. DoD is the single largest energy consumer in the Federal Government and has set an ambitious goal to improve tracking and analysis of where and how the Department is using energy“¦The Department of the Navy (DoN) is at the forefront of this effort with the AMI program, which will provide the DoN with the necessary tools and intelligence to strategically manage and optimize its energy resources now and in the future.”

This agreement is designed to further the Department of the Navy’s Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) Program, whose goals include reducing energy consumption by measuring and analyzing usage.

The work is expected to be completed in Summer 2011.
