The U.S. Department of Agriculture has awarded a one-year, $30 million contract to six firms for security support, including CSC of Falls Church, Va. The contract specifies four one-year options.
This agreement allows each firm to compete to support the USDA in cyber protection. The goal is to prevent future attacks, which have been growing in number of late, through identifying current weaknesses and implementing response measures.
Tom Anderson, president of CSC’s North American Public Sector Civil and Government Health Services Group said, “Cyber attacks on U.S. government agencies are on the rise and CSC will play a vital role in supporting the USDA with expert resources and leadership in cyber protection strategy, solutions and development to manage risk and mitigate affects of an attack… Through governmentwide cybersecurity initiatives, we implement innovative technologies and information assurance strategies to mitigate risk and enable our customers to deliver on their mission.”
