As the new Apple iPad becomes all the rage, cyber criminals are tapping into the new fad in spamming attacks on Twitter. Users who discuss or even mention the iPad are assailed by spam bots offering “Brand new iPad Take it for free.”
The link takes the user to a promotional website that asks the user to enter a large array of personal information. Users can also be “accepted for a financial product such as a credit card or consumer loan.”
Another scam involves a “spot the difference” quiz, which allows the user to try again following any incorrect answers. The correct answer asks the user to provide personal information to receive their “prize.”
