This is an exciting time for CGI Federal with the recent announcement on Friday, May 7, 2010 of the definitive merger agreement for CGI to acquire Stanley Inc. After the transaction, CGI Federal will have around $1.2 billion in annual revenue.
George Schindler, the President of CGI Federal, says “the acquisition of Stanley marks a very big day for CGI because it really brings us back into the defense and intelligence space.“
CGI Federal has been looking for this type of acquisition for six years. The acquisition “will be bringing high quality employees into the fold, with a client base that really completes CGI as an end to end government services provider,“ says Schindler.
Schindler says the cultural match between the two companies made sense and CGI was extremely disciplined in making sure there was this fit. The cultural fit was something that was really important to the clients, but also to the employees of CGI and Stanley.
“The company itself is extremely client-focused just like CGI. The company has a dedication to their employees, recognizing that it is a people business and supporting the people of the company in order to support their customers,“ says Schindler.
CGI will be on the lookout for potential new companies to acquire. “There are fewer and fewer firms that have the scale and the capability to address the efficiency needs of this market,“ said Schindler.
Going forward, CGI will continue to look for more opportunities to provide additional scale and capabilities to the federal market through more acquisitions.
