Taking place Aug. 11-12, the Shaping the Future of Cybersecurity Education workshop will be held in cooperation with the Department of Homeland Security, the Department of Education, the Office of Science and Technology Policy, the Office of Personnel Management, the Department of Defense, and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence.
The purpose of this event is to share with other federal, state and local governments, industry, academia, nongovernment organizations, and the general public the larger agenda for the National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education.
NICE has evolved from and expanded upon the Comprehensive National Cybersecurity Initiative Expand Education initiative to include cybersecurity awareness and training for civilians and formal education for students in kindergarten through post-graduate school. The goal of NICE is to establish an operational, sustainable and continually improving cybersecurity education program for the nation to use sound cyber practices that will enhance the nation’s security and economic well-being.
The August workshop will focus on plans for each of the four tracks that make up NICE: National Cybersecurity Awareness, Formal Cybersecurity Education, Federal Cybersecurity Workforce Structure, and Cybersecurity Workforce Training and Professional Development.
