Computer Repair Engineer Senteced to Prison Following Bank Fraud Attempt

A computer repair engineer has been sentence to prison for nine months following an attempted computer hack on one of his customers. Grzegorz Zachodni, 30, was discovered browsing through photos and attempting to hack an online bank account during a Sky News investigation.

Sky News gave a laptop which was designed to run the webcam to covertly cover the repairs in shop. The webcam picked up Zachodni looking at photos of the reporter in a bikini which were contained in a folder marked “private,” and his attempts to login to Facebook, eBay and online banking accounts.

Following its investigation, Sky News gave the information to the Metropolitan police, who charged Zachodni with fraud. He was subsequently tried, convicted and sentenced.

“Hopefully this conviction will be a warning to the computer repair industry that the copying or use of customers’ private and personal information is not acceptable,” said Detective Constable Chris Young.
