ManTech topped all other government contractors on Military Times Edge’s 2010 “Best Employers for Vets” list. ManTech ranked seventh overall on the 50-firm list.
According to the firm, “companies from the Fortune 1000, Defense News 100 and Federal Times’ General Services Administration 250 lists were eligible for consideration. Factors that determined rankings included recruiting practices, training and mentoring, reserve policies and corporate culture.”
“Our military veterans are essential contributors to the security of our nation and our defense/intelligence industry,” said ManTech President and CEO George J. Pedersen. “ManTech’s military veteran employees enable us to better support our customers’ needs through the technical and leadership skills they learn as members of our nation’s armed forces. They share our dedication to our customers’ missions, and we support them in developing their skills and building careers that further support our nation’s security and prosperity.”
ManTech said in a statement that it “actively recruits military veterans to fill a number of positions, particularly those in engineering, software / IT and technical support related to cyber systems, electronic systems, logistics, satellite communications and other key technologies. Approximately 40 percent of the employees ManTech added in 2009 were veterans, many of whom continue to serve in the U.S. National Guard and Reserve during their tenure with the company. Last year, ManTech’s support of military veterans garnered recognition that included the Patriot Award for extraordinary support to the U.S. National Guard and Reserves and the Most Valuable Employer for the Military from CivilianJobs.com. Also in 2009, ManTech was named a “Top Ten Military Friendly Employer” by G.I. Jobs for the fourth consecutive year.”
