Top experts in cybersecurity, homeland security and national defense are scheduled to appear at this year's National Symposium on Homeland Security and Defense, held Oct. 27-29 in Colorado Springs, Colo.

Among others, experts include Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano; U.S. Northern Command Commander Adm. James Winnefeld, Jr.; Black Hat Director Jeff Moss; and Cisco Systems CEO Donald Proctor.

Speakers will cover a wide array of relevant cybersecurity topics: Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. Norton A. Schwartz will deliver an opening-day keynote presentation, followed by Maj. Gen. Dale Meyerrose vice president and general manager of Cyber and Information Assurance for Harris Corporation, who will speak on “Are You Solving Today's Cyber Challenges With Yesterday's Concepts?” Cisco CEO Proctor will address the network's role in securing cyberspace in his speech, and the Center for National Policy’s Dr. Stephen Flynn will discuss the national security case for building greater infrastructure resilience.

The symposium will also feature panel discussions that will address issues such as the future of EINSTEIN, centralization of cybersecurity, securing cyberspace, regional cyber conflicts, and infrastructure resilience.
