SAIC Opens Cyber Innovation Center

Today, SAIC announced it has opened a Cyber Innovation Center in Columbia, Md., to develop cybersecurity solutions.

The purpose of the center is to provide a site where SAIC employees can tackle cybersecurity challenges using the latest ideas, services and technologies. The center will include a technical-solutions lab, research and development, and training and conference spaces, among others.

Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley and Sen. Barbara Mikulski attended the grand opening.

“The new CIC at SAIC is a true investment in the future of our workforce,” O’Malley said. “Cybersecurity, computer systems design, and all the high tech, high potential sectors of our economy are all connected to our goals for creating, saving, and placing Marylanders in quality jobs. The innovation and exchange of ideas that happen here will help us identify threats such as identity theft, network viruses, loss of sensitive information and other malicious activity that are part of the ever-evolving world of cyber information and communications.”

SAIC Senior Vice President and Business Unit General Manager Larry Cox added: “The CIC offers an environment where the comprehensive knowledge of SAIC’s workforce is brought to bear upon the challenge at hand. We look forward to leveraging this valuable new resource as we continue to grow our presence in Maryland.”
