Gaining one spot from last year“™s ranking, Dell has been deemed the greenest company in America for 2010.

The Newsweek ranking measures 500 companies on their environmental performance, policies and reputation on an annual basis.

In particular, Dell was lauded for its energy-efficient products, green supply chain, and easily disposable bamboo packaging. The company’s recycling programs have diverted the equivalent of 484 million pounds of waste from landfills over the past four years.

“Dell’s focus on environmental stewardship and sustainability helps us to be a more responsible partner to our customers,” said Michael Dell, chairman and CEO. “The efficiencies we can all achieve through the use of greener products, solutions, services and programs should be an integral part of every corporate culture. This ranking is the result of a long-standing commitment that remains at the heart of Dell and the work we do in service of our customers.”

HP and IBM also did well in the rankings; to see the full list click here.
