A student has filed the first cyber crime case in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, accusing two individuals of using false information to create a Facebook account and posing as her, according to bdnews24.com.
The defendants are two editors of the Alochhaya magazine, Abu Reza and Sanjay Dey Ripon. The plea said Ripon contacted the plaintiff, a female university senior, claiming Alochhaya was a publication of a popular daily newspaper.
The young woman was given a job at the magazine, but while working there, she declined Ripon’s marriage proposal. Infuriated, Ripon, with the help of Reza, created fake, obscene pictures of the plaintiff from her photographs and posted them on a fake Facebook profile.
The plaintiff also said the defendants used the photos to blackmail her, and halted her upcoming wedding by showing the fake pictures to her fiance.
