Police in Singapore will soon have access to cutting-edge research and development facilities in fighting cyber crime with the standup of the Interpol global complex.
Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Ismail Omar told the New Straits Times that delegates at the recent Interpol’s 79th general assembly unanimously endorsed the opening of the facility.
“The global complex will enhance Interpol’s capability to strengthen worldwide law enforcement, develop cutting-edge fighting tools and services, and provide sustainable business continuity solutions,” Ismail told New Straits Times. “It will also enhance Interpol’s operational responsiveness and offer an additional platform from which the incident response team can be deployed to assist member countries quickly.”
Singapore has set aside the funds for the complex, and the Qatari government also contributed $2 million to the project, New Straits Times reported.
Ismail said the adopting the global complex project was vital in revolutionizing the way Interpol supported its members in combating crime, which includes collaborative partnerships with the public and private sectors.
