Unisys Corporation has received an extension of its contract to provide IT outsourcing services to the City of Minneapolis.

The services span all departments of the city government, including the mayor’s office, city council, fire and police departments and the public works department.

Under the extension, Unisys will provide city employees with email service delivered through a cloud computing model. The cloud-based email services will be based on Unisys Unified Communications as a Service.

Additionally, Unisys will modernize the city’s IT security infrastructure and management capabilities, services intended to protect the city’s operations from cyber attacks.

“The City of Minneapolis continues to lead the way in capitalizing on IT outsourcing services to drive efficiency in government,” said Ron Frankenfield, president, Unisys Global Outsourcing and Infrastructure Services. “Unisys looks forward to providing new ways for the city’s administration and workers to serve the residents of Minneapolis ““ from City Hall out to the neighborhoods.”
