HP has unveiled a new online tool that will help chief information officers in government and industry better determine technology priorities.
“Determining the right IT priorities is critical to aligning with and achieving enterprise objectives,“ said David Gee, vice president of worldwide marketing at HP Enterprise Services. “The HP Business Outcomes Dynamics Assessment gives clients unique insight into their decision making and how they compare to leaders within their industries. Clients can then work with HP to select the best approach to achieve their most desired outcomes.“
Similar to a personality indicator, the HP Business Outcome Dynamics Assessment, an Internet questionnaire, measures respondents along three axes: Productivity determines if an organization is top-line, revenue-generating focused or bottomline, cost-conscious focused; Agility reveals whether an organization is innovative and proactively seeks change or is pragmatic and only changes in response to specific needs; and Security uncovers whether an organization sees security as a competitive differentiator or is shielded and primarily engages in security initiatives to fulfill compliance requirements.
Combining the options for each of the three axes yields eight specific profiles, representing various organizational IT management philosophies, including Deliberate Navigators, Protective Pioneers and Watchful Galvanizers.
Based on the results of the survey, the two most common technology profiles were Compliance Centric; organizations that focused on maintaining balance by being pragmatic about change and adopting new technology with caution; and Constant Evolvers, innovative organizations that embrace new technologies while avoiding security risks.
