A handful chief information officers from government, including NASA’s Linda Cureton and Department of Veterans Affairs’ Roger Baker, are convening in February to attend the 24th annual Federal Networks Conference where senior decision-makers share their latest plans for how they will design, purchase and operate their networks as well as the IT services these networks enable and deliver.

Held Feb. 15-16, 2011, in the nation’s capital, Federal Networks has become the most important governmentwide conference focusing on net-centric solutions to the government’s biggest challenge, said Warren Suss, conference chairman and president, Suss Consulting, Inc.

“Whether it’s strengthening our nation’s defense, defending against cybersecurity threats, or providing top quality care for our nation’s veterans, the government is turning to the next generation of network technologies to ensure mission effectiveness and operational efficiency,” he said on the event website.

Public-sector CIOs participating include Dr. Jack Jones, National Institutes of Health; Michael Carleton, Department of Health and Human Services; Robert Carey, Department of Defense; and Lt. Gen. William T. Lord, Office of the Secretary of the Air Force.

The first luncheon keynote presentation will include a report from the Veterans Affairs CIO, who will give an update on the department’s top upcoming requirements for IT and network technologies at VA hospitals and clinics around the country.

Dawn Meyierriecks, deputy director of national intelligence for acquisition and technology, will deliver the second-day luncheon keynote presentation on opportunities and top requirements in the Intelligence Community.

Federal Networks 2011 will take place at the McLean Hilton, 7920 Jones Branch Drive McLean, VA 22102.
