
NASA tasked Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman and The Boeing Company with studying designs for advanced concept aircrafts due for delivery in 2025.
The contract specifies all designs must meet NASA“™s goals of less noise, cleaner exhaust and lower fuel consumption.
The aircraft must fly up to 85 percent of the speed of sound, cover a range of about 7,000 miles and carry between 50,000 and 100,000 pounds of payload.
Final designs will be submitted for approval by the end of the year.
