Are you miserable? Forbes Magazine thinks you might be, ranking Washington, D.C., in the top 20 Most Miserable Cities.
Forbes ranked cities according to 10 factors. Unemployment, crime and taxes are only part of why you scowl. The misery scale also accounts for weather, commute times and how local sports teams are performing. If those don't give you enough of the blues, the list also considers home values and political corruption.
Makes you want to scream already, doesn't it? With factors like that, it shouldn't come as a surprise to find D.C. ranked 16 on the list.
While the judges gave credit for Washington's relatively stable economy, nightmare traffic and its sports team's less than stellar scorecards earned the city enough dings to land it on the list. Watch out, Forbes. You may be hearing from Dan Snyder on that call.
Before your blood pressure gets too high, though, give thanks you're not in California. Stockton took first place with seven of its sister cities keeping it company on the list.
It can always get worse. At least D.C. missed the top 10.
