Lockheed Martin’s Vice President of Cyber Security Solutions Charles Croom has been announced as a featured speaker at the upcoming UMBC Visionaries in IT Forum, a four-part breakfast series developed to help elevate the prominence and recognition of Maryland as a critical hub of information and emerging technologies.

Croom, whose presentation is titled “The State of Cyber Security 2011,” has served in his current position at Lockheed Martin Information Systems & Global Solutions since October of 2008. He joined the firm after having served in the U.S. Air Force for more than three decades, and as director at the Defense Information Systems Agency.

In 2005, while serving as DISA director, Network World named Croom as one of the 50 most powerful people in networking. Three years later, he received AFFIRM’s annual Executive Leadership Award for Information Technology Management.

Previously, Croom co-chaired a National Security Telecommunications Advisory Committee Task Force on “Strengthening Government and Private Sector Collaboration,“ which issued a report recommending the president direct the establishment of a Joint Coordinating Center. He currently serves on the boards of the National Cyber Security Alliance and the Internet Security Alliance.

The IT forum will be held Feb. 23 at the BWI Airport Marriott in Baltimore, Md. The event is free, but requires registration.
