Wireless firm Powerwave Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ: PWAV) is set to debut a new line of “revolutionary“ 4G products at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, next week.
The technology, including Picocell and Active Array Antenna, are components of what the company calls its “Inside Out Solutions“ methodology.
It brings “mobile broadband coverage and capacity closer to where users need it most, both indoors and outside,“ said Khurram Sheikh, chief technology officer at Powerwave. “This results in better signal quality and reduced network congestion, giving users faster access and longer battery life.“
Powerwave's Picocell is a compact Wi-Fi base station that delivers greater system capacity at a lower cost than adding standard macro cells to patch up areas of high data use or weak network signals.
The Active Array Antenna, which is multiple-input, multiple-output, combines a remote radio head, software-defined radio, tunable filtering and antenna technologies in an integrated design that can be used for 3G or 4G LTE technologies.
