Boeing announced today the aviation company and its employees plan to donate $70,000 to help St. Louis, Mo., recover from last week's tornado.
The American Red Cross will receive $50,000 from Boeing and $20,000 from the St. Louis Employees Community Fund.
“We know that it will take time for the families and business people who lost their homes and livelihoods to rebuild and recover,” said Dennis Muilenburg, president and CEO of Boeing, Defense, Space & Security. “We have many strong partnerships and relationships in the St. Louis region, so I know that the company and our employees will do all that we can to help with the recovery efforts. ”
The St. Louis metro area was hit by fierce storms that spawned a tornado April 23. The tornado took direct aim at Lambert-St. Louis International Airport and destroyed nearly 100 homes. The resulting damage closed the airport over the weekend. Thanks in part to early-weather warning systems, no lives were lost.
