As first-date jitters go, this encounter is bound to set off major knee trembling. Local businesses jockeying for federal contracts had the opportunity to woo the National Security Agency Monday in a speed-dating event that made bind dates and overprotective fathers pale in comparison.
Maryland Congressman C.A. Dutch Ruppersberger played chaperon to 250 companies and NSA contractors and government officials. Hosted by the Industry Outreach and Facilitation Directorate of Acquisition, the “Business in a Minute“ event provided face-to face meetings in which companies had 15 minutes to get the government to fall in love with them.
“NSA stays on the cutting edge by expanding its contractor base and identifying new businesses to help it focus on its core mission,“ Ruppersberger said. “NSA is one of the largest employers and most significant economic engines in Maryland. The growth underway at NSA and Fort Meade is a major boost to local businesses, helping to get Marylanders back to work.“
Only time will tell if the event resulted in any enduring matches.
