Harris Introduces New iPhone App Device

A new device from Harris Corporation merges content video gathering with phone capabilities and a content location-based service.

The company introduced a new iPhone application called Newfish, which comes with a full motion video asset management engine and allows users to capture video and post images or data to the military or intelligence communities.

The app was originally meant for news organizations, but extends use to DoD and allows intelligence agencies, military and government organizations to capture content gathered by soldiers, federal and public agency operators. Newfish comes with location verification that helps confirm where the content was captured. Once captured, the content is sent to a command or network operations center where FAME processes the content for distribution.

Group President for Harris Government Communications Systems Sheldon Fox talked about the ways in which FAME contributes to the Newfish application.

“FAME leverages our industry leading broadcast and government communications expertise to enable easy cataloging, automated content preparation workflows, and access to Newfish videos for quick repurposing and distribution,” he said.

The app is only available for iPhones with 3G and 4G speed.
