On a beautiful spring day, it doesn't take a lot of arm twisting to get a group together for a golf tournament. All the better if it's to support veterans.

This week, ThanksUSA held its annual charity golf tournament at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Gainesville, Va. Wounded war veterans from Walter Reed Army Medical Center played alongside PGA pro Jim Estes. Sponsored by Intelligent Decisions, the tournament raises funds for full-time post-secondary education, vocational and technical training scholarships for active-duty families.

“Intelligent Decisions is honored to be sponsoring the ThanksUSA Golf Tournament, recognizing the sacrifices of our active-duty service members, and those of their families, through educational scholarships for their spouses and children,“ said Harry Martin, ID president and CEO and member of the ThanksUSA board of directors. “Military families give up so much with loved ones often stationed far from home. These scholarships are one small way we can help repay them, as well as the men and women who so bravely serve our nation.“

Over the last four years, ThanksUSA has sent 2,200 spouses and children of military personnel to school.

“Since starting the ThanksUSA scholarship program five years ago, we have awarded more than $6 million in scholarships to military spouses and children,“ said Michele Stork, ThanksUSA executive director. “A major factor in the organization's success is the continued support of corporate donors like Intelligent Decisions.“
