SolarWinds Inc. has unveiled its User Device Tracker, which helps engineers and IT pros identify the current and past location of a network device. Users can set up a notification alert for when a specific device connects to a network.
“UDT delivers the device-tracking and forensic history of an expensive switch port-tracking appliance at a much lower price point,“ said Sanjay Castelino, vice president of product marketing and management for SolarWinds. “This feature saves money in that it allows IT to avoid costly and unnecessary switch functions.“
The solution offers three key features:
- Locating network devices, including confirmed rogue devices
- Displaying switch capacities
- Scheduling automatic network discovery and device watch lists
An IP address, Hostname or Mac address is all that“™s needed for SolarWinds UDT to easily locate a device and retrieve the switch name, port, port description, VLAN and more, the company said.
