Stephen Szeremeta has had an extensive career working in the government-contracting industry. Today, he serves as general counsel for Avaya Government Solutions, and is responsible for the operation of legal and contract departments.
Prior to his current role, Szeremeta was chief legal officer of Nortel Government Solutions, until 2009 when the company was acquired by Avaya Government Solutions. He served as lead enterprise sales attorney and legal counsel to the company's North American Customer Contracts Team.
Szeremeta spent time as general counsel to Lockheed Martin's Air Traffic Management group. He was responsible for providing legal support for Lockheed's business with the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration and other major overseas initiatives.
Szeremeta was senior counsel for Loral Corporation and the lead attorney on several bid protests. He also provided support on several major U.S. government proposal initiatives. Szeremeta held several positions at IBM, including senior counsel at IBM's Federal Systems Company Manassas, Gaithersburg and Rockville facilities.
He was also lead negotiator for IBM's Integrated Systems Solutions Corporation and was responsible for negotiating several outsourcing transactions. Szeremeta spent time as an attorney with the U.S. General Accounting Office.
He holds a bachelor's degree in economics from Union College and a JD from the Washington College of Law at American University.
