ATK's Reusable Solid Rocket Motors gave the Space Shuttle Atlantis the boost it needed to successfully lift off today in NASA's last launch of the Space Shuttle Program. About 1 million people watched the final liftoff at the Kennedy Space Center.

“As we watched Atlantis lift off for the final time today, it was bittersweet for ATK, as well as a tremendous moment of pride,“ said Blake Larson, ATK Space Systems Group president. “I want to express my gratitude to the ATK workforce, our subcontractors and the NASA family.“

ATK is currently developing its upgraded five-segment solid rocket motor. The firm is also preparing to ground test the third full-scale Development Motor and completing a 90 percent design review this year.
