Science Applications International Corporation (NYSE: SAI) is sponsoring the Cyber Security Challenge UK as one of six platinum sponsors responsible for creating the competitions this year's participants will have to complete to earn a place in the Masterclass grand final.

Aimed toward those considering cybersecurity careers, the Cyber Security Challenge UK is a series of national online games and competitions that test the cybersecurity abilities of individuals and teams. The challenge will identify talented individuals capable of becoming part of the U.K.'s present and future cybersecurity workforce.

“SAIC is thrilled to join in supporting the Cyber Security Challenge UK,“ said Larry Cox, SAIC senior vice president and business unit general manager. “In today's highly interconnected world, our cyber skills and aptitude are even more vital to business and mission performance. Challenges like this keep our professionals sharp, trained and confident to perform in the face of evolving threats and will help identify the next generation of cyber defenders.“

The challenge has more than 30 prizes across three competitions and the Masterclass. Prizes will seek to help winning candidates through educational opportunities and bursaries, internships and access to professional expertise, knowledge and networking opportunities.

Dan Summers, the challenge's first overall champion who accepted a job with the information security team of the Royal Mail Group, said winning the challenge last year had opened doors for him.

“I’m extremely grateful, as I’m sure many future challenge participants will be over the coming years,” he added.
